Someone is Making Crappy Rules

Dear Sean, My school is having some trouble with four square. (every one is making rules that dont make sense such as punch-u-l8tr and fire-in-the-house!) My school is called Stevenson Elementary School in Mesa,AZ 85208. I would love it if u could come and give a speech or send a letter to the school with a list of the rules that we can tape near all the 4-Square courts.

Summer Programs About to Begin!

I want to take a moment to introduce you to our Director of Summer Programs, Amos Worth. Amos has been a member of Squarefour for several years, and his appetite for four square action knows not the bounds of winter gymnasiums. He will offer, organize and administer casual drop-in style games throughout the summer for members and non-members alike. To get email announcements of Amos' summer sessions, please take a moment and update your email subscriptions.

It's Getting Hot in Here...

It's important to note that summer is hot. Damned hot. So hot, in fact, that many people can't bear to wear clothing. Then take a minute to enjoy (and consider buying a copy of) the Cambridge Uncovered semi-nude calendar that has just gone on sale again for Sep 2010. In it you will find Squarefour's top players and even a world champion rampaging the court in nothing but their birthday suits. What better way to start the summer.

Squarefour's First Broken Bones

Over the last seven years of four square league play in Cambridge, we have been fortunate enough to remain relatively injury free. That is until this year. This is a photo of the shiny new apparatus that Sevn gets to wear while the bones in his hand mend. On March 21 he busted either a metacarpal, proximal, or middle phlange (one of those hand bones) while playing our beloved game.

Cambridge City Council Congratulates Christian!

City Councilor Sam Seidel made an appearance at Squarefour's recent game to congratulate Christian Housh on earning his recent title of the Men's Four Square World Champion. It's a great thing that the City of Cambridge can get behind our small organization. Christian Housh was resolved right into Cambridge history as "one of the great people who eat, sleep, work and play in the our city."

Christian Housh, New Mens World Champion

Christian Housh of Cambridge, MA, was crowned the new Mens Four Square World Champion. He beat sixty other men entered at the Four Square World Championships on Feb 27, 2010, in Bridgton, ME.

Christian was a returning finalist and faced of in the final round against familiar faces from past championship tournaments. Also in the round with him was Chris Glasser, the 2009 champion, who was gunning to keep his title. After 25 minutes of normal play, plus four overtime extensions, the four top ranking men were separated by a difference of only three points.

Corey Carmichael, New Women's World Champion

A new contender, Corey Carmichael, age 17, of Portland ME was crowned the new ladies world champion. She described herself as a "casual" four square player, but the we now have proof that she nothing less than a humble destroyer on the court. Corey beat out over forty other women for the title at the Four Square World Championships on Feb 27, 2010, in Bridgton, ME.

World Champs Rocked: National Coverage

The 2010 Four Square World Championships event on Feb 27, 2010, was the biggest we have ever seen. It was fully outfitted with 100 players on eight championship courts and crowned a number of new world champions for the year. In the photo above you will see nearly all the competitors attending this event, except for the ones who raced out to their swanky prep trailers to hit their saunas between rounds.
